This is a great historical representation of the impact of the significance and relevance of HBCUs through the lens of a few institutional movements. HBCUs have been institutions of resilience and determination for over a century. In many ways, the examples provided in this book are mimicked by some of the HBCU activism of the present day. Different day, same fight. The overarching theme, racism, and discrimination rear their ugly head in ways that extend far beyond the fight of the stories mentioned in this book. Though the students, alumni, faculty, and staff at the institutions represented in this book, and others, made an imprint and moved the needle, it hasn't moved much in many ways. Let's talk about it.
