HBCU 2024 Conference Featured Session: HBCU Enrollment and Long-Term Student Outcomes

HBCU Enrollment and Long-Term Student Outcomes: Research to Practice

New research has identified the long-term educational and financial outcomes for Black students attending an HBCU compared to students who first enroll at non-HBCUs or don’t go to college. Black students who initially enroll in HBCUs are nearly 15 percentage points more likely to earn a BA and have 5% higher household income at age 30 than those who do not enroll in an HBCU. We provide guidance from the vantage points of K–12 and higher ed relating to the benefits of attending an HBCU.
